FINDING THE GOAL - INTRODUCTION
When I put my husband on his food plan, I did not have a specific weight goal in mind. I merely wanted to see a steady loss. Although a doctor or insurance chart would probably say that a man my husband's height (511*) with his family medical history should weigh 175 to 180 pounds, I long ago realized he could never weigh that little. After the famous liquid protein diet he weighed 185— for a week or two. And he did look handsome and healthy. But he couldn't hold it. Personally, I've always thought that as long as he didn't cross 200 (and if he also did some aerobic exercise), he'd be safe.
I do realize this is on the high side and we must both watch his health carefully, but you can't expect miracles and you can't nag your husband to death, or you will end by outwitting yourself!
Mike set his own goals after he began to lose steadily. He first went for 220; once there, he began to look at 200. When he got to 205, he started talking about 185.1 never said a word. (Clearly, this was not easy for me.)
